Implanted at an altitude of 1850 m, in the heart of the Hautes Alpes, Vars has become one of the most sought after resorts of the Alpes du Sud. It borders high mountains in a preserved environment, hidden in the middle of splendid larch woods with surrounding mountain tops (Massifs of the Ecrins, of the Ubaye and of the Queyras) and pistes at about 3000m.

AWith 180 km of pistes, 1100m of height difference, 108 pistes and 47 ski lifts, the Forêt Blanche, union of the Vars and Risoul resorts, is one of the most beautiful ski areas of the Southern Alpes. Its high altitude, and its privileged location make of the Forêt Blanche one of the most snow-covered resorts. It also benefits from the brightness of a climate, which is already Mediteranean. The daily maintenance, the pistes' orientation on four sides, as well as a large network of artificial snow up to an altitude of 2600m, make an ideal place for optimum skiing from the beginning of the season until closing of the ski lifts.

Skiing for all, with a great variety of pistes for all levels spread over the whole ski area and levelled pistes, which allow children (from the first star) to go all over the Forêt Blanche by directly getting on very comfortable lifts. More committed skiing is possible for the most sportive ones with spendid black pistes, about one hundred lanes at less than an hour from the ski lifts in the Eyssina crests and at Chabrières.

Little ones and grown-ups, with friends or family, you will be able to admire the Forêt Blanche's great panoramas, run down the slopes freshly coverd by the snow, or simply have a break in one of the restaurants at altitude

The forest's ski areas are so easily accessible, wherever holidaymakers are staying. From the heart of the resort or directly from the traditional villages, skiers can see most of the Forêt Blanche's pistes unveiled. Vars is one of the great altitude resorts because of its guaranteed snow cover, its large area, which make of Vars the 16th resort nationally.

All of Vars' ski lift equipment is modern (the most recent of the Southern Alpes) with recent equipment which allows skiers great fluidity and therefore reduces the waiting time at the beginning of the lifts.
