The village of SAINTE MARIE, gateway to the ski areas, is the place of the first tourist developments, with the Peyniers and the Olympic snow fronts, where some of the Forêt Blanche's most beautiful pistes remain.

 

The very first lifts were implanted in the heart of the hamlet along with many hotels, most of them being created in old buildings in local and traditional architecture.

 

Through the years, Sainte Marie has become the administrative centre of Vars commune.

 

The main institutions have a key role in the village's life as well as for Vars as a whole.
