Vars, the MTB adventure
We’re loving it on two wheels!
The resort of Vars offers signposted trails, accessible via the ski lifts that are open every day in summer. (3 July - 29 August 2021)
Vars offers descents of 1,000 metres from the top the Mayt without having to make the effort to get up there.
Everyone (aged 10 and over) will find an itinerary suitable for their level while discovering the diversity and beauty of the mountain landscapes.
10 routes, 3 trails, including a special electric mountain bike route.
There's a downhill (or DH) for those who love speed, cross-country for those who like a nice day out or enduro for those who are looking for a mixture of the two... the choice is yours!
Most of the routes can be accessed via the ski lifts and resort staff are available to help you find the best equipment and show you the most scenic routes.
2 fun zones
Easy to get to, by the snowline and at the top of the hybrid lift, the fun zones have two areas:
Designed for mountain-bike beginners and children on balance bikes, this area has low-level wooden obstacles made on the premises including a see-saw bridge, low wall, boardwalks, etc.

Forêt Blanche Ebike trail
In the heart of the Forêt Blanche woods, this route enables you to explore a beautiful landscape of forests and ridges.
Anyone can follow this easy route. Short trails or long-distance adventures, the choice is yours!
Save on battery power with a special pass for access to the Risoul lifts
The Vars-Embrun downhill
32km of pure downhill from the top of the Mayt to the banks of the Lac de Serre Ponçon with a difference in altitude of 1800 m.
The queen of descents
This descent, suitable for families with children (aged 10 and over) as well as experienced riders, makes its way through the forest and is scattered with rest areas.
Fully accessible from Vars via the ski lifts on Sundays, Mondays & Tuesdays, with a shuttle bus from Embrun for the return trip - View the timetable
The Taillefer track
On the world cup slope...

A short 3.5 km technical track with a 400 m gradient.

Ski lift opening times
Chabrières hybrid lift: From 9.15am to 12.30pm* and from 1.35pm to 4.30pm*, every day from 3 July to 29 August
Sainte Marie chairlift: From 9.15am to 12.30pm* and from 1.35pm to 4.30pm*, every day from 3 July to 29 August
Peyrol chairlift: From 9.30am to 12.45pm* and 1.45pm to 4.15pm*, Sundays, Mondays & Tuesdays from 3 July to 29 August* last ascent. Passes are strictly personal and non-transferable.
For safety reasons, chairlifts may not operate in the event of bad weather (wind, storms, etc.)
