Set out to explore Lac de l’Étoile, nestled in the heart of the Vars Mountains. This hike invites you to enjoy alpine scenery and beautiful panoramic views of the surrounding peaks.

From the Couniets parking lot, take the trail following the sign for Lac des 9 Couleurs. Continue through the alpine pastures to the ridge and the traverse. There are plenty of marmots here!
Climb up to the ridge on your right overlooking the Laugier valley, and continue along the trail until you reach a junction.
From there, continue to the right along the ridge to the Pic de Serenne.
Below lies Lac de l’Étoile.
One-way distance:
-From the Cabane des Couniets: Note that there...From the Couniets parking lot, take the trail following the sign for Lac des 9 Couleurs. Continue through the alpine pastures to the ridge and the traverse. There are plenty of marmots here!

-From the village of Sainte-Catherine: 10 km / 4 hours 30 minutes / 999 m elevation gain
