Alpine skiing in Vars

skiing in the great outdoors

Discover a high-altitude ski resort designed to cater for all types of skiing and snowboarding. With a variety of slopes, excellent snow conditions, state-of-the-art ski lifts and one of the largest snowparks in France, Vars is a must-visit destination for your skiing holiday.

A mountain

several ways to ski

In Vars, skiing takes place in a mountain landscape that has retained its natural character. Between the vast high-altitude open spaces, the runs winding through larch forests and the panoramic views over the peaks of the Hautes-Alpes, every run offers a different experience.

There’s no monotony here. The terrain, the aspect of the runs and the diversity of the different sectors create a succession of atmospheres that make you want to explore ever further. Whether you’re looking for a leisurely family ski, long panoramic runs or more challenging slopes, Vars offers a ski area to suit every taste.

Skiing for fun

competitive skiing

In Vars, both learning to ski and striving for excellence come naturally.

Beginners have access to specially designed areas where they can build confidence and progress at their own pace. Intermediate skiers can enjoy a wide variety of runs to hone their technique, whilst more experienced skiers can take on new challenges on more demanding slopes.

This balance is one of the resort’s key strengths. A single day can bring together all generations around a shared passion, with everyone enjoying terrain suited to their expectations.

Details of the slopes in the Forêt Blanche ski area:

  • 19 green runs
  • 47 blue runs
  • 32 red runs
  • 9 black runs

Less queuing, more skiing

When you come to the mountains, you’d rather spend your time on your skis than in queues.

Thanks to fast, efficient and recently refurbished ski lifts, you can easily access the various areas of the ski resort and make the most of your day. The result: more runs, more discoveries and more time to enjoy the mountains.

The mountains as a playground

With a ski area stretching from 1,650 to 2,750 metres above sea level, Vars enjoys particularly favourable snow conditions throughout the winter season.

This ideal location ensures high-quality snow and excellent skiing conditions across much of the ski area. From the first snowfalls right through to the final weeks of the season, you can enjoy an environment perfectly suited to downhill skiing.

Carefully groomed slopes

Every night, once the ski area closes, the teams take over.

The daily grooming and maintenance work ensures that skiers are offered slopes that are precisely groomed and suited to different skiing styles. This constant attention guarantees excellent skiing conditions that can be enjoyed right from the very first runs of the day.
