La Mayt – Your home away from home in the heart of Vars, year-round

Located in the heart of the Hautes-Alpes, La Mayt welcomes you for comfortable stays from spring through fall.

Ideally situated near shops and at the starting point for hiking trails, mountain bike routes, and cycling or motorcycle tours. On the edge of the Peynier Forest, high above the village of Vars Sainte-Marie, this location allows you to fully enjoy the mountains, far from the hustle and bustle of tourism, while staying connected to nature.

Close to the legendary mountain passes—the Cayolle, the Lautaret, the Galibier, and the Restefond— Vars, Agnel, and Izoard—offering cyclists, motorcyclists, and lovers of long mountain routes an ideal location to explore the legendary Route des Grandes-Alpes. Not to mention the fabulous Val d’Escreins.

La Mayt offers spacious and modern apartments ranging from one-bedroom to three- or four-bedroom duplexes, accommodating 2 to 6 people. One ground-floor apartment is accessible to guests with limited mobility. Each apartment is thoughtfully furnished with warm décor, bright living spaces, and a fully equipped kitchen: dishwasher, washing machine, oven, large fridge-freezer, raclette machines, and more—as well as all the utensils needed for easy cooking. Customized baby amenities are available. The apartments also feature a large-screen smart TV and free Wi-Fi.

To fully enjoy the natural surroundings, some apartments have large south-facing terraces on the edge of the Peynier Forest, offering the perfect setting to relax and admire the scenery. Linens are provided, beds are made upon arrival (changes available upon request), and housekeeping can be arranged according to your preferences.

For outdoor enthusiasts, La Mayt offers direct access to mountain activities: hiking, trail running, mountain biking, cycling, motorcycling (roadbook for a star-shaped route around Vars), dog hiking, wildlife and plant observation, and high-altitude picnics.

The bike and equipment storage room is secure, allowing you to store your gear with complete peace of mind. Private parking is also available for residents.

Dogs are welcome at La Mayt, provided they are well-trained and you notify us when making your reservation. Certain breeds require prior authorization. For everyone’s comfort, please walk your dog outside the residence… they’re sure to enjoy the walk!
