COMPETITION CANCELLED: During preparation for the freeride competition, an avalanche was triggered today despite reinforced safety measures (PIDA, mantle analysis). The mountains remain unpredictable. Out of a sense of responsibility, and because safety is our top priority, we have decided to cancel the event on Saturday January 17.

In January 2026, Vars will host a major freeride event, the Vars South Line Series, on January 17 and 18. This three-star competition brings together riders from different countries to compete on the emblematic Eyssina sector, a natural terrain renowned for its commitment and already host to international competitions.

The event format is based on a single run, with two separate starts leading to a single finish, in the heart of a natural corridor. Riders will have to offer the smoothest, cleanest and most technical line possible, adapting to the mountain's relief and conditions. Performance will be judged according to international freeride criteria, taking into account mastery, control, commitment and style.

With its focus on spectacle and performance, the Vars South Line Series is part of both an international qualifying circuit and the South Line Series, a new regional circuit in the Southern Alps.
