Spending Christmas in Vars means enjoying the warmth of a mountain holiday, where the days are divided between the pleasures of skiing, nature walks and relaxing by the fire. At an altitude of 1850 metres, the resort takes on a warm, authentic feel, punctuated by the lights that illuminate the villages and the snow that covers the peaks. Young and old alike will find plenty to marvel at, meet up with and make memories of. Here, the magic of Christmas is ageless: it’s part of every moment and is experienced to the full throughout the holidays.

MONDAY 22ND DECEMBER

Christmas Flashmob with Dorlotte

10am – In front of Vars les Claux Tourist Office

Start the day with a wild flashmob with Dorlotte the groundhog. It’s a great way to start the day and the week with family and friends.

Escape Game

All day – Vars les Claux snow front

Go in search of Father Christmas, who mysteriously disappeared just minutes before the presents were due to be distributed. Places are limited, please register with the Tourist Office.

TUESDAY 23 DECEMBER

Weekly market

From 8am – Vars les Claux

Take advantage of the traditional market to discover local products, crafts and flavours of the region.

Le Grand Voyage de Noël – Christmas show

4.30pm to 5.30pm – In front of the Vars les Claux Tourist Office

With Christmas just around the corner, it’s time for young and old alike to (re)discover the traditional songs of this time of year. You’ll be invited to take part in the concert on a variety of instruments: claves, sistres, guiros, egg maracas…

Santa’s toboggan ride & marshmallow party

5.30pm – 6.45pm – Meet at the bottom of Télémix

Santa leaves his sleigh for a moment for a toboggan ride full of laughter and magic. After the effort, the comfort with marshmallows grilled on wood fire accompanied by hot drinks.

WEDNESDAY 24 DECEMBER

First track

8.40am – Location to be determined when you register

The ski patrollers are passionate about their work and invite you to join them as they open the pistes: first tracks, safety, prevention… Places are limited, so bookings must be made at the first aid centre the day before. Level required: 3rd star. Valid ski pass required.

Visit to the snow factory

Free entry from 10am to 12pm – Snow factory, Clapier piste

Discover the job of a snow maker and the secrets of artificial snow! This visit is accessible via the Chabrières telemix with a valid ski pass.

A moment of tenderness with Dorlotte

2pm – In front of the Vars les Claux Tourist Office

Share a moment of tenderness with our mascot Dorlotte. Photos, hugs and smiles guaranteed for young and old alike.

Christmas lantern workshop

3.30pm-5pm – Vars les Claux snow front

Come and make your own lantern to light up the festive season. Glitter, coloured paper and the magic of Christmas will be on hand. Places are limited, please register with the Tourist Office.

New Year’s Eve Party

5pm to 7.30pm – Sainte-Marie

Christmas Eve evening begins with a luminous procession with the fairies in pink and white, followed by the spectacular arrival of Father Christmas in a snowcat . You can then immortalise the moment with souvenir photos with Father Christmas, and enjoy the distribution of papillotes. There will also be a refreshment bar serving mulled wine and hot chocolate. The evening will continue with a torchlit descent by the ski instructors, ending with a musical fireworks display before celebrating with family and friends.

THURSDAY 25 DECEMBER :

Christmas Village at Vars les Claux

10am to 4pm

All day long, enjoy the Christmas village in Vars les Claux with the following programme: Christmas market, moments of tenderness with Dorlotte, photo with Father Christmas, Santa on skis, distribution of papillotes, Christmas batucada, face painting for children, family snowman competition, traditional XXL wooden games.

Snack on the Caribou toboggan

4pm – Plateau du Fournet

Come and warm up with a hot chocolate and sweet treats to share with the whole family.

FRIDAY 26 DECEMBER :

Christmas Quiz

Test your knowledge of Christmas with a fun, family-friendly quiz! From tradition to songs and cult films: will you be able to answer all the questions?
