Speed skiing

the hunt for records

Speed skiing, or Kilometre Lancé, is the fastest discipline in the world. On the legendary Chabrières piste in Vars, the champions reach breathtaking speeds.

The Temple

speed

Since the early 1990s, Vars has been the temple of speed on snow. Whether on skis, bike, snowboard or snowscoot, world records have followed one another for almost 30 years on the Chabrières piste. The fastest skiers in the world are now competing at speeds of over 250 km/h on the Vars ski area.

Speed skiing

The concept

98% slope

The international line-up brings together the very best in speed skiing on the fastest slope in the world.
The Chabrières couloir is one of the most impressive in the world and is widely respected for its 98% gradient at the top. The crème de la crème of ski racers from all over the world will once again come to challenge the Chabrières piste. It has inspired and continues to inspire the greatest sportsmen and women in search of speed and thrills.

KL = kilometre thrown

Speed skiing is the only non-motorised sport that allows you to go from 0 to 200km/h in less than 6 seconds, an acceleration equivalent to that of a Formula 1 car. A latex suit, a helmet, streamlined fins and poles, 2m40 skis, a lot of passion, a good dose of courage and a touch of madness… these are the essential ingredients for speed skiing!
