Vars is expanding its sporting calendar with the addition of a new event dedicated to downhill mountain biking. On 29 and 30 August 2026, the resort will host the final of the RS Downhill Cup, a rapidly growing regional circuit that will bring the summer season to a close on the resort’s trails.

Mountain biking in Vars

A leading destination for mountain biking in the Southern Alps, Vars is reaffirming its commitment to outdoor sports by hosting the final round of the RS Downhill Cup, organised byUS Cagnes VTT. This regional downhill circuit, comprising six stages across the South region, brings together enthusiasts of the sport every year for technical courses and friendly competitions. Created ‘by riders, for riders’, the Downhill Cup RS focuses on the quality of the trails, safety,the sporting experience and promoting the areas hosting each stage.

Up to 200 competitors are expected in Vars, travelling from across the South region and beyond, to take part in this final event of the season.

The final stage of these rounds will take place on the Taillefer track, one of the iconic trails at the Vars Bike Park.

As well as being a competition, the event is also intended to be a festive and friendly occasion. A DJ night open to the public will be held on Saturday evening on the Vars snow front Les Claux, providing an opportunity for riders, holidaymakers, locals and seasonal workers to get together.

The Downhill RS Cup is looking for volunteers!

On 29 and 30 August, the resort is hosting the Downhill RS Cup and we need volunteers to help ensure the competition runs smoothly. Are you available for one day or both? We welcome volunteers with any level of availability! Shifts run from 8am to 5pm. To make the sport accessible to as many people as possible, a special taster day will be held on Friday 28 August.

Supervised by an instructor and rider appointed by the organisers, this event will enable beginners to discover downhill mountain biking in ideal conditions and in complete safety.
