A major new feature of this 12th edition of the Vars Mountain Trail, the ‘Boucle Gourmande’ offered an original take on trail running, in a non-timed format, combining physical activity, exploring local heritage and local cuisine.
Designed to be accessible to all, participants and their companions were able to explore the traditional villages of Vars through a friendly and authentic experience. The route linked Sainte-Catherine, Saint-Marcellin and Sainte-Marie, three villages emblematic of Vars’ history.
At each stop, a gourmet break was organised by local associations, who welcomed participants in a warm and festive atmosphere. This first edition perfectly captured the spirit of the resort: combining heritage, sport and the art of living.
As they wandered through the narrow streets and village squares and met the volunteers, participants discovered another side to the mountains – one that is more human yet just as authentic. With food tastings, socialising and exploring the local area, the ‘Boucle Gourmande’ has established itself as one of the great successes of the 2026 event.
Acting as a genuine bridge between residents, local organisations and trail runners, this new initiative reaffirms the ‘ Vars Mountain Trail ’s’ commitment to offering experiences accessible to all, where sporting achievement goes hand in hand with a sense of community and the celebration of local heritage.
