Starting from the summit of Peynier, this groomed trail is intended for experienced hikers. It features a long traverse through the mountains, alternating between forest sections and steep descents, all the way to the hamlet of Sainte-Catherine.
Starting at the summit of Peynier—accessible via the Bois Noir chairlift (open to pedestrians) or Trail No. 9—the Chemin de Bois Noir is a groomed trail intended for experienced hikers. The use of hiking poles and appropriate footwear is recommended.
The trail follows a long descent through the snow-covered landscapes of the Bois Noir area. Some steeper sections are made easier by wide turns deep in the forest, offering a pleasant hike in a pristine mountain setting.
At the Pont de la Salce, the route continues along Trail No. 12 to the sawmill located above Sainte-Catherine. This hike connects the high-altitude areas with the forested sections of the valley while offering varied scenery. The return to the resort is easy thanks to the free shuttle buses. The route can also be done in the opposite direction for a more challenging ascent.
The starting point is accessible by shuttle: villages – Le Rey stop
Duration: 3 hours uphill – 1 hour 30 minutes downhill
