The 100% trail running weekend kicked off with the most intense event on the programme: the vertical kilometre.
The race started at 6 pm from Vars Sainte-Marie. The runners first made a swift dash to Lake Peyrol, the halfway point of the course, before tackling a more demanding second section towards the summit of La Mayt, where pacing became crucial.
In an atmosphere that was both focused and friendly, the 111 trail runners taking part in this 3.7 km climb with 930 metres of elevation gain gave it their all to cross the finish line. For participants in the 3-format Challenge, this KV served as a great warm-up ahead of the weekend’s events.
