TheAlps Epic returns to Vars this summer. This marathon mountain bike race, renowned for its demanding nature, offers participants technical and challenging routes, requiring both excellent physical condition and solid riding skills. From 7 to 12 September, the riders will have to rise to a major challenge, covering more than 300 km and 14,000 m of ascent.
The 2026 edition comprises 6 stages, the last of which will take place in Vars on 12 September, with the finish scheduled for the day before. This final stage will take participants on a tour of the resort’s not-to-be-missed features: Col de la Coulette, Vallon Laugier, Val d’Escreins, Château de Saint-Marcellin… a compendium of the region’s most beautiful landscapes and terrain. The day’s programme includes 58km and 2,452m of ascent, for a final event that is as spectacular as it is demanding.
New this year: the gravel event is accessible with or without a time trial, allowing you to discover the event in a more free or competitive format, depending on your preferences.
The Alps Epic can be enjoyed solo or as part of a team, giving everyone the chance to take on this exceptional challenge at their own pace and according to their own objectives.
